Jávea se encuentra en la zona norte de la provincia de Alicante, entre los cabos San Antonio y La Nao. El Cabo de la Nao separa las bahías de Valencia y Alicante siendo el punto más occidental del litoral de la Comunidad Valenciana. Los frecuentes ataques de los piratas hicieron a los naturales de la Villa adentrarse 2 kilómetros de la Costa y amurallarse en un recinto que se mantuvo hasta 1877. Este recinto constituye el actual núcleo histórico que, en torno a la gótica Iglesia de San Bartolomé, caracteriza hoy a Jávea con sus casas encaladas, enrejados de hierro y dinteles labrados en una porosa tierra dorada llamada "tosca".

Dentro del núcleo histórico tenemos el Ayuntamiento, el Mercado de Abastos, el Centro de Cultura, el Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico o la Capilla de Santa Ana. A todos ellos podemos acceder mediante un breve paseo. A 2 kilómetros del núcleo histórico esta la zona marinera y portuaria conocida como las Aduanas del Mar donde hay que destacar la curiosa iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Loreto construida en forma de quilla. Siguiendo por la carretera que discurre paralela a la Playa del Benissero se llega a la zona del Arenal donde se levanta el único Parador Nacional que existe en la Costa Blanca y se extiende la playa más concurrida de Jávea: la Playa del Arenal. Jávea tiene 20 kilómetros de litoral desde la Cova Tallá hasta la Cala de la Granadella. Hay una interesante mezcla entre playas de arena fina como la del Arenal, playas pequeñas rodeadas de pino muy adecuadas para la prácticar submarinismo como la de la Granadella y playas nudistas como la de Ambolo. Hay pequeñas calas como la del Portichol o La Sardinera.

Hacia el interior tenemos la Jávea más tradicional de los riu-raus o de los naranjales protegidos del duro clima continental por la barrera natural del Montgó que se despliega al norte de Jávea sirviendo como frontera entre Jávea y Dénia.

La historia de Javea o Xàbia, empezó hace muchos siglos. Los primeros indicios de vida humana son de hace 16.000 años, y se encuentran en pinturas rupestres en las cuevas del Montgó. Javea está dividida en tres partes, el casco antiguo -El Pueblo- que se sitúa a más o menos 3 Km de la costa, El Puerto y El Arenal, la zona alrededor de la playa de arena.

Playas de Jávea
Desde el Cabo de San Antonio a la Cala Granadella, Jávea es el exponente perfecto del variado litoral que ofrece la Costa Blanca. La navegación a vela, el submarinismo o el simple baño pueden ser aquí un acontecimiento único. Hacia el norte, la costa ofrece la posibilidad de sumergirse a descubrir las profundidades de la Reserva Natural Marina del Cabo de San Antonio. En el puerto se puede alquilar un crucero o iniciarse en el deporte de la vela en alguna de las escuelas que éste alberga y, en verano, tomar un barco y recorrer la costa hasta Dénia. Al sur del puerto, un litoral de roca sobre cristalinas aguas invita a zambullirse y, más al sur, una extensa playa de fina arena donde tumbarse al sol y en la que instalaciones temporales permiten el alquiler de patines. La costa se torna más bella y salvaje entre los Cabos de San Martín y de La Nao y entre las islas del Portichol y el Descubridor y ofrece unos excelentes fondos para la práctica del submarinismo. Finalmente, la atractiva Cala Granadella muestra sus transparentes aguas para disfrute de los bañistas. Varios clubes de buceo, un campo de golf y una excelente oferta de alojamiento, restauración y ocio completan el atractivo de este apreciado enclave turístico.

Las preciosas playas que se sitúan a lo largo de los 25 km de costa de Javea son sobre todo de piedra y gravilla. Por ejemplo las playas “La Grava” y “Cala Blanca” son perfectas para los deportes acuáticos como windsurf, piragüismo y motos de agua. Las pequeñas bahías Portixol y Tangó con playas de gravilla son perfectas para bucear. El Arenal es la playa de arena de Javea, y ahí a parte de bares y restaurantes, también hay otras facilidades como una zona de recreo para niños, campos de volley y se pueden alquilar motos de agua y barcos. A parte de esas playas, a lo largo de la costa también se sitúan las siguientes playas: El Pope, Ambolo, La Granadella, Muntanyar en Cala la Sardina.

Jávea is in the north zone of the province of Alicante, between(among) the ends San Antonio and The Vessel. Cape of Good Hope of the Vessel separates the bays of Valencia and Alicante being the most western point of the littoral of the Valencian Community. The frequent assaults of the pirates made the natives of the Villa enter 2 kilometres of the Coast and be walled in an enclosure that was kept until 1877. This enclosure constitutes the current historical nucleus that, around San Bartolomé's Gothic Church, characterizes today Jávea with houses whitewashed, latticeworks of iron and lintels worked in a porous golden land "coarse" call.

Inside the historical core nucleus we have the Town hall, the Market, the Center of Culture, the Archaeological and Ethnological Museum or the Chapel of Holy Ana. To all of them we can accede by means of a brief walk. To 2 kilometres of the historical nucleus this seaworthy and port zone known as the Customs of the Mar where it is necessary to emphasize the curious church of Our Lady of Loreto constructed in the shape of keel. Continuing for the road that passes parallel to the Beach of the Benissero it comes near to the zone of the Sandbank where there gets up the onlyNational Inn that exists in the Costa Blanca and there spreads the Jávea's most crowded beach: the Beach of the Sandbank.

Jávea has 20 kilometres of littoral from the Cova Tallá up to the Cove of the Granadella. There is an interesting mixture between beaches of thin sand as that of the Sandbank, small beaches surrounded with pine very adapted for the prácticar scuba diving as that of the Granadella and beaches nudists as that of Ambolo. There are small coves as that of the Portichol or The Sardinera.

Towards the interior we take the most traditional Jávea of the riu-raus or of the orange groves protected from the hard continental climate as the natural barrier of the Montgó that despliega to the north of Jávea serving as border betweenJávea and Dénia.

The history of Javea or Xàbia, began many centuries ago. The first indications of human life are 16.000 years ago, and are in cave paintings in the caves of the Montgó. Javea is divided in three zones, the old town (The village) that places to more or less 3 Km from the coast, The Port and The Sandbank, the zone about the beach of sand.

Javea's Beaches.
From the End of San Antonio to the Cove Granadella, Jávea is the perfect exponent of the varied littoral who offers the Costa Blanca. The navigation to candle, the scuba diving or the simple bath can be here the only event. Towards the north, the coast offers the possibility of submerging to discovering the depths of the Natural Marine Reservation of the End of San Antonio. In the port it is possible to rent a cruise or begin in the sport of the candle in someone of the schools that this one shelters and, in summer, take a ship and cross the coast up to Dénia. To the south of the port, a rock littoral on crystalline waters invites to plunging and, more in the southern part, an extensive beach of thin sand where to lie down to the Sun and in that temporary facilities allow the rent of skates. The coast becomes more beautiful and wild between the Ends of St Martin and of The Vessel and between the islands of the Portichol and the Discoverer and offers a few excellent funds for the practice of the scuba diving. Finally, the attractive Cove Granadella shows his transparent waters for enjoyment of the bathers. Several clubs of skin-diving, a golf course and an excellent offer of housing, restoration and leisure complete the attraction of this vallued tourist enclave.

The beautiful beaches that place along 25 km from Javea's coast are especially of stone and gravel. For example the beaches " The Gravel " and " White Cove " are perfect for the aquatic sports as windsurfing, piragüismo and water motorcycles. The small bays Portixol and Tangó with beaches of gravel are perfect to dive. The Sandbank is the beach of Javea's sand, and there to part(report) of bars and restaurants, also there are other facilities as a zone of playtime for children, fields of volley and there can be rented motorcycles of water and ships. To part(report) of these beaches, along the coast also the following beaches place: The Priest, Ambolo, The Granadella, Muntanyar in Penetrates the Sardine.
