Las huellas del hombre sobre estas tierras se remontan a los vestigios encontrados en la Cueva de la Cendra, en el Cabo de Oro, datados en el Paleolítico Superior. En el siglo XIV la población árabe es dominada por las conquistas de Jaime I. En 1386 se instituye un municipio propiedad de los señores de LLúria, Sarrià y Gandía. Al inicio del siglo XV el dominico San Vicente Ferrer visitaba con frecuncia estos lugares en sus viajes de predicación, y también a visitar a su hermana Constanza, casada con el notario de la villa. En el XVI se construye una iglesia fortaleza para la protección de los continuos ataques de piratas berberiscos.En el XVII se erige el Castillo de Moraira, posteriormente destruido por los ingleses.

El municipio de Teulada-Moraira formado por ambas poblaciones, una en el interior y la otra en la costa, conforma un territorio de uso principalmente turístico, donde coexisten multitud de urbanizaciones, a la vez que se se conservan numerosos núcleos de uso agrícola, principalmente dedicados al cultivo de la vid. en su variedad de moscatel que origina una riquísma uva pasa.

Cuentan con una monumentalidad importante en la que destaca una bella iglesia tardo-gótica en honor a la Patrona Santa Catalina del siglo XV, las varias ermitas desparramadas por el término, la torre vigía del Cabo de Oro, o el torreón defensivo que domina la playa de la Ampolla y que se conoce como castillo de Moraira.Teulada es la población interior, amurallada, enrejada y alejada de la costa, fue una población agrícola que conservó también una pequeña vocación pesquera. A través de verdes campos de vid llegamos al Puerto en Moraira, centro muy conocido por su importante actividad turística centrada principalmente en su puerto deportivo. Hay 8 km. de litoral con playas y pequeñas calas como la de L´Andrago, Punta Estrella, Cap Blanc y La Cala.

La Cooperativa San Vicente Ferrer elabora con la uva excelentes caldos como son los premiados Blanco Marina Alta o el Moscatel.

Lugares de interés en Moraira.Enmarcada entre el Cap d´Or y la Punta Estrella, el legado que la naturaleza ha dejado en el litoral de este Municipio de la Costa Blanca, invita a vivir una pequeña aventura que seguro no defraudará a nadie. Ocho kilómetros de costa, galardonados con la Bandera Azul de la Comunidad Europea, y multitud de servicios le han valido a Teulada-Moraira merecer la certificación de los sistemas de Calidad ISO 9001 y Gestión Medioambiental ISO 14001.

Ademàs de las playas Moraira también tiene lugares interesantes para visitar como el Castillo de Moraira. Esta fortaleza se sitúa en una roca en la playa L ’Apolla, no lo puede pasar por alto. Fue construido en el siglo XVIII y se construyó para protegerse de ataques de los piratas bárbaros. La forma inusual se conoce como pezuña de buey. Eso es así porque la pared que mira hacia el sur tiene una forma semicircular y la que mira hacia el norte es recta.

O visite la parroquia “Mare Déu dels Desemparats”. Esta iglesia fue construida entre 1875 y 1878 y se sitúa en el centro de Moraira. La iglesia tiene forma rectangular y por dentro es bastante sencilla a parte del cuadro de la “Virgen de los Desemparados” y dos preciosos mosaicos.

La Torre de Vigilancia del Cap d’Or se sitúa en el punto más alto del Cap d’Or en el borde del acantilado. La torre es sólida y no tiene puerta de entrada, parasubir colgaban una escalera hecha de cuerdas desde arriba. Todo para defender Moraira contra los piratas bárbaros.
